Haplogroup J-M267 – I got this from my Mother.
When I first started this quest, I learned my father’s paternal family were from Austria/Hungry/the Pale of Settlement, that sort of area. Our ancestors were in the area for over 150 years, but where had they come from? My mother’s family were from Latvia, Poland, Ukraine and Hungary; they were there for over 150 years, but a where had they come from?
I did two DNA tests one for Y-DNA and mtDNA
You get your Y Haplogroup from your father who got his from his father all the way back to Adam in Africa and its similar with the mtDNA.

J-M267 is found at its highest frequencies in the southern Middle East, west of the Zagros Mountains in Iran, to the Mediterranean Sea, and encompassing the entire Arabian Peninsula.
The J-M267 marker has been carried by Middle Eastern traders into Europe, central Asia, India, and Pakistan. As with other populations with Mediterranean ancestry, this lineage is found at substantial frequencies within Jewish populations.
The Cohen modal haplotype lineage, as well as the presumed lineage of the Prophet Mohammed, are found in Haplogroup J-M267. J1 is also one of the main Haplogroups found among Arab populations.
