Introduction to Our Family History
As an internet and technology junkie, my fascination with genealogy has transformed over the years. Since my journey began back in 2002, this project has grown from a simple request for assistance from my daughter into a rewarding pastime. Through this website, I aim to share the genealogical data and family stories contributed by living descendants, ultimately connecting the dots of our shared history.
The Importance of Stories in Genealogy
While genealogy often focuses on facts, the essence of family history lies in the narratives that surround those facts. As I traced our ancestors’ paths, I discovered that connections can easily fray over time. Relocations, arguments, and unexpected life changes can result in family members losing touch. Often, the only remaining ties are family stories or traditions passed on from elders long gone.
A Collaborative Journey
This website represents a collaborative effort, built on the memories, stories, and insights shared by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Their contributions include photographs, documents, and personal anecdotes that enrich our understanding of our common family tree. Furthermore, advances in DNA testing have validated much of this data, allowing us to uncover more connections across generations. However, this is an ongoing project, and there are still gaps and unanswered questions to address.
